Welcome to 2017-18 season registration

Registration for the 2017-18 season is now open. The Board of Directors has been working very hard the last few seasons to make hockey as affordable as possible. We have dropped registration costs again this year, focusing on the Squirt, Pee Wee, and Bantam teams (registration prices for these teams was lowered approximately 25%). This is the third year in a row that we have lowered registration fees, and each season we have continued to grow the numbers of players and families in our Association. As we continue to grow, we can keep lowering fees and investing back into the Association and the rink. In addition, this year we have taken several steps to improve the quality of our hockey programs. We are partnering with Goalies Inc. to help us provide expert training to our goalies and the coaches that will be working with them. We will also be buying on and off-ice training aids to make our practices more effective. And finally we are looking to bring in a Power Skating Coach that can work with some of our skaters and coaches on a regular basis throughout the season.

There are a couple of changes to our Association for this season as well:

1. New Hockey Family Referral program: Please talk to your friends, family, neighbors, or anyone with young children about joining Manitowoc Youth Hockey.

  • For each eligible family that enters your name in the family referral box, you will receive $50 towards your fundraising goal or 2.5 hours of volunteer credit.
  • Eligible families are those that sign up for a full season program (Mini-Mite or above) for the first time.

2. New Volunteer Policy for this season: In order to address some issues that have come up in the past, we are making the following changes.

  • Cancellation of Dibs shifts will be prohibited within 3 days of the start of that shift (instead of 2 days).
  • Between 72 hours and the start of your shift, you are responsible to find your replacement. Your Team Manager or the Volunteer Coordinator can help, but it's up to you to ensure that your shift is covered.
  • If you do not show up for your shift, you will be charged $20 per credit for that shift.

3. In an effort to lower our expenses, we have chosen to pass the credit card fee on to the user. If you choose to pay offline this fee is NOT charged. If you choose the offline option you can pay in full or in 3 installments. If you choose to pay in full, just mail your check to the PO Box. If you choose to pay in installments just follow this payment schedule:

  • 1/3 of your balance when you register
  • 1/3 by the first practice (October 9th)
  • Balance by the first Monday of November (November 6th)

Practices start on October 9th. Prior to that you can get a jump on your volunteer hours by helping us get the rink ready and installing the ice. Check the Dibs page on the website for more information.

Thank you,

Doug Berry
